Jupiter enters Leo on 1 November 2026, but this is a short first visit of about three months. It turns retrograde in December and slips back into Cancer in the last week of January 2027. Here is what it means for all 12 Moon signs.

Jupiter (Guru, the planet of wisdom and growth) leaves Cancer and enters Leo on 1 November 2026. Our panchang engine places the crossing in the night of 31 October/1 November, so 1 November is the date to note. But this is not Jupiter's full year in Leo. It is a short first visit of about three months: Jupiter turns retrograde in December and slips back into Cancer in the last week of January 2027.

What does a Jupiter transit mean?

A transit (gochar) is a planet moving from one zodiac sign into the next as seen from Earth. Jupiter is a slow mover, so its sign change is a major event in Vedic astrology. Leo (Simha) is a fire sign ruled by the Sun. In the Vedic tradition Jupiter and the Sun are friends, so Jupiter is considered comfortable in Leo.

Why is this transit only about three months long?

Most write-ups give a full-year forecast for Jupiter in Leo. Our own transit data (Lahiri ayanamsha, the sidereal reference used in Indian panchangs) tells a different story. Jupiter enters Leo on 1 November, turns retrograde in December, and drops back into Cancer in the last week of January 2027. Retrograde means apparent backward motion as seen from Earth. Jupiter's longer stay in Leo comes later.

In practice: treat whatever shifts you notice between November and January as a preview, not the final result. Things started in this window may get a second look in February and March, when Jupiter is retrograde in Cancer.

Why might the start feel slow?

Leo's ruler is the Sun. From 18 October to 16 November the Sun sits in Libra (Tula), the sign where it is considered debilitated, or at its weakest. So the "landlord" of Jupiter's new house is weak for the first two weeks, and Jupiter's effects may take time to show in the first half of November. After 16 November that weakness lifts.

Aries — 5th house

For Aries, Jupiter moves through the 5th house of children, study, creativity and romance. Students may find it easier to focus and pick up new subjects. Good news about children and recognition for creative or written work are possible. Enthusiasm for investing may rise; go slowly here. Once Jupiter turns retrograde in December, big financial decisions are better left until after January. Keep expectations in relationships balanced.

Taurus — 4th house

Jupiter occupies Taurus's 4th house of home, mother, vehicles and peace of mind. Home projects, repairs or a move can gain momentum, and a vehicle purchase you have been weighing may finally feel right. Family time feels rewarding and support from your mother is likely. Where to be patient: do not rush a change at work. Since Jupiter returns to Cancer in February, read property paperwork twice before signing anything large.

Gemini — 3rd house

For Gemini, Jupiter sits in the 3rd house of courage, siblings, short trips and communication. Writers, speakers, teachers and media professionals may see new openings, and your ideas find a readier audience. Relations with siblings improve. Tradition says a 3rd-house Jupiter can bring a touch of overconfidence, so promise only what you can deliver. If you are planning a trip, try to complete it by late January.

Cancer — 2nd house

Jupiter has been in Cancer's own sign until now; from 1 November it moves to the 2nd house of wealth, speech and family. New income sources and a savings habit may take shape. Speech turns gentler and family support grows. This gain is short-lived for now: in the last week of January Jupiter returns to your sign. Let any new earnings settle for a while before you spend them.

Leo — 1st house

For Leo, Jupiter is in your own sign, the 1st house of personality, health and fresh starts. Confidence rises, people listen more closely, and recognition is possible. A new role or responsibility may come your way. Remember the first two weeks of November are slow, and Jupiter returns to Cancer in late January. Use this window to lay foundations rather than to make grand announcements; the bigger stage comes later.

Virgo — 12th house

Jupiter sits in Virgo's 12th house of expenses, foreign lands, solitude and spirituality. Overseas work, distant travel or study-abroad plans may progress. Meditation, worship and quiet service feel natural, and time alone is restorative rather than lonely. Spending tends to rise, so write down a monthly budget and stick to it. Give sleep and rest priority. This is a three-month phase; from February Jupiter returns to Cancer and the pressure eases.

For Sagittarius, Jupiter occupies the 9th house of fortune, dharma, teachers, father and long journeys. Tradition treats this as a supportive placement: a pilgrimage, higher study or a connection with a mentor becomes likely. Your father's support is available. Capricorn — 8th house

Keep meals and routine regular, and stay out of arguments with colleagues. This is roughly a three-month placement; in late January Jupiter returns to Cancer and the atmosphere shifts.
